Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent times, photography has developed widely and famed people are being snapped by skilled photographs all around. Some people might think in a positive way because it allows society to get interested in their lives while others take that as a negative sign as a privacy concern. This essay will discuss both viewpoints before presenting my own opinion.

Supporters think that filming famous people by professional photographers is a good thing because more people are interested in their lives. As a public figure, every citizen is curious to know them and about their life. Even I am interested in knowing about my favorite celebrated person livelihood. Moreover, many people consider them as a role model, and they want to gain knowledge and get inspired by their stories.

On the other hand, some people find it wrong to get publicly photographed. To elaborate, privacy concerns are raised. Society believe that every individual has their own privacy and breaching that is wrong. For example, a famous actor is enjoying his vacation with his family and photographing without permission is incorrect. Furthermore, they will hate the photographers and media in future. Therefore, photographers should not interfere in anyone's personal life.

In my opinion, privacy matters more than anything. While people think as a good way for individual to get interested, renowned people has the right to say no to the public photography. Respecting their privacy is more valuable option.

In conclusion, both the views are correct in their own way as time has passed, I believe it is wrong to follow famous people by the photographers to photograph.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the public's interest in role models versus the right to privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the public's interest could be expanded with more specific examples of how media coverage impacts society. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development of the arguments remains at a basic level, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and each paragraph has a central topic.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'celebrated person' and 'breaching', but there are also instances of awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'famed people' instead of 'famous people' or 'filming famous people' when referring to photography. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'snapped by skilled photographs' (referring to the photographers). While the meaning is always clear, the range is limited and lacks the precision required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('renowned people has the right') and article usage ('the photographers' vs 'photographers'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors that occasionally interrupt the flow. While the errors do not impede communication, the frequency of these slips suggests that the writer has not yet mastered complex structures, keeping the score in the 6.0 range.
