Student answer (Band 6.5)
Presently, celebrities are having their pictures taken by professional photographers wherever they go, while some persons believe this is beneficial because members of the public are interested in their lives , others argue that the photographers are on the wrong by following these celebs .
To begin, on one hand being a celebrity comes with its fair share of publicity as the general public tend to idolize their lifestyles and personalities , when paparazzi do take photos of these famous people , it tends to boost their level of popularity and brings them closer to their audience , their fans can have tab of their famous person, have an idea of his favorite restaurant or who they may be dating , this tend to humanize this celebrities and many celebs whose fame is dropping have one or more times hired fake paparazzi to follow them , some have even gone all the way to leak certain personal information of themselves to the press.
Although this also can be harmful to influential people because many people believe they don't give these celebs their space to have time with their families and loved ones without being on the news , many are being stacked and followed to their places of residence which is supposed to be a safe and hollow spot for them , like in the case of Princess Diana of the United Kingdom who died in a car crash while trying to get away from these people. Also it could lead to serious emotional and psychological distress to the families of these famous people always having to have their pictures taken when they are together like David Becham daughter who has flash induced epilepsy.
To conclude, celebrities being photographed can be beneficial because they may provide members of the public insight about their lives ,on the other hand its quite distressing because it poses safety concern and emotional strain on their families, I believe neither is wrong as long as its respectful done without posing harm to the celebs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the benefits and drawbacks of paparazzi culture while providing a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of publicity benefits for celebrities and the safety concerns for their families. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the example of Princess Diana is strong, but the explanation of 'fake paparazzi' could be more clearly linked to the argument. The position is consistent, though the conclusion could be more explicitly stated earlier in the essay to ensure a more robust argumentative structure throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. For example, the transition 'To begin, on one hand' is a bit clunky, and some sentences are run-on, which affects the flow. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall readability and coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'idolize', 'humanize', and 'psychological distress'. There are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'on the wrong' instead of 'in the wrong', and 'hollow spot' instead of 'safe haven'. Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'Becham' instead of 'Beckham'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. The student relies on some informal phrasing that could be elevated to a more academic tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation and sentence boundaries. Many sentences are comma splices, such as '...interested in their lives , others argue...', which disrupts the grammatical flow. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'this tend to humanize this celebrities'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. More attention to sentence structure and punctuation would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
