Student answer (Band 7.0)

Currently, the world is known as a social media era. The celebrities are followed by paparazzi for all their activities, travels and so on. Some people argue that this is a way of serving entertainment for public to print photos in magazines and newspaper, while many people believe that it is opposing the right to privacy. I strongly believe that the famous people should not be captured about their personal life, however it is acceptable to follow them to shows and promotions.

On the one hand, individuals prefer to see the star faces on the social media and on paper, which influence and motivate them in their lives. Furthermore, celebrities can enjoy the fame via media, either positive or negative, that will enhance their financial stability. In India, for instance, individuals photographed at certain events can attain overnight hype over all the internet. Therefore, photographing the famous personality will be profitable and it is a way of entertainment for public.

On the other hand, according to many people, clicking pictures of a person at every occasion can be result in exploitation of individuals' privacy. For example, the individual spending time with family while travelling should not be photograghed by paparazzi, this can be embarassing or uncomfortable for some bodies. Consequently, photographers should take consent before clicking pictures on certain places.

In conclusion, although clicking pictures have numerous benefits to both, celebrities and audience, photographers should be aware about right to privacy and should take permission before capturing someone. Hence, photographers should be fimiliar with when to click and when to not follow famous people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: it discusses both views regarding paparazzi and provides a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the benefits of paparazzi could be more deeply explored beyond 'financial stability' and 'hype'. The examples provided, such as the mention of India, are relevant but could be integrated more smoothly to support the main points. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task, though it would benefit from more detailed elaboration to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is mostly clear, though there are minor instances where the connection between sentences could be tighter. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, with some attempts at less common items like 'financial stability', 'exploitation', and 'consent'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'star faces' instead of 'celebrities' or 'famous figures', and 'some bodies' which is informal and imprecise. Spelling errors like 'photograghed' and 'fimiliar' occur, though they do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling of key terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the world is known as a social media era' (awkward phrasing), 'serving entertainment for public' (missing article), and 'can be result in' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and minor errors in subject-verb agreement. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy would be beneficial.
