Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent time, famous people are photographed by professionals everywhere they go. Many individuals believed that it is a good thing to do because the masses are interested in their everyday life style while others think it is wrong to follow them around. I belief it is a good thing for professional photographers to follow famous people around.

One of the good reason is it is stress free for the celebrities. This is because it makes their work easier and faster. Some of them markets and advertise for business and that could not be done without the help of a professional capturing the event. They would not be able to capture and advertise at the same time. Another reason is that they are celebrities and a model to the public. People like to be updated on their live style and for their busy schedules they had to employ a photographer to key in for them.

However, some individuals still belief is a wrong thing for a trained photographer to follow them around to capture they moments. They think celebrities need some privacy. There could be a time they may need an alone time for themselves and also some moments that they don't want public to see.

In my own opinion, i belief is the best thing for trained personnel to follow famous person and capture they moments because they are good in their work and get paid for it.

In conclusion, am of the opinion for famous people to be followed around but some persons think otherwise. It is opportunity to be employed and get paid for job well done.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, including both views and a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument that photographers make celebrities' work 'stress free' is not fully explained or logically connected to the broader issue of privacy. The ideas remain at a surface level, and the personal opinion is stated but lacks deep justification. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or deeper analysis, ensuring that each paragraph directly supports your central argument rather than just listing general observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'One of the good reason is', 'Another reason is', 'However'). While the essay is coherent, the transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated to improve the flow. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the pronoun usage in the second paragraph regarding who is being 'updated' and who is 'employing' the photographer.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'good thing', 'wrong thing', and 'capture they moments'. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'live style' instead of 'lifestyle' and 'key in for them', which is an unnatural collocation. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of media, privacy, and public interest, while ensuring that your word choices are accurate and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Many individuals believed' instead of 'believe'), incorrect pronoun usage ('capture they moments' instead of 'their'), and missing articles or incorrect prepositions. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pronoun consistency would significantly improve your accuracy.
