Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 94 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you introduce both sides of the argument and state your position, the essay stops abruptly after only one body paragraph. The ideas are not developed, and the prompt's requirement to discuss both views and provide an opinion is not fulfilled because the essay is incomplete. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full discussion for both perspectives and a clear conclusion, meeting the minimum length requirement to allow for sufficient development of your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response shows a basic attempt at logical organization by using an introductory paragraph and starting a body paragraph with 'On the one hand'. However, because the essay is incomplete, there is no overall progression of ideas. The paragraphing is insufficient as the essay cuts off mid-argument. To achieve a higher score, ensure that each viewpoint is given its own paragraph with clear topic sentences and that you use a wider range of cohesive devices (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast') to link your ideas more fluidly throughout the entire response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the limited length of the text, but it is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'good thing' and 'not a good thing' are used, which lack precision. There are also minor errors such as 'eveywhere' (spelling) and 'creates' (subject-verb agreement). To improve, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'privacy intrusion', 'public interest', or 'ethical implications'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with more nuance and clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that hinder the quality of the writing, such as 'it ia a positive thing' (typo), 'audience is curious' (missing article), and 'photographers creates' (subject-verb agreement). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage. Additionally, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, to demonstrate greater control over English grammar.
