Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The essay addresses all parts of the task, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the professional benefits of photography versus the mental health and safety concerns. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding 'film industry' portfolios is a bit narrow and could have been expanded to discuss the broader nature of celebrity culture. The position is consistent throughout, though the introduction is slightly cluttered with minor errors that affect the clarity of the thesis statement. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Besides this', and 'On the paradoxical side', which help guide the reader. However, some of the transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'On the paradoxical side', which is not a standard idiomatic expression. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional errors in word choice make some sentences slightly difficult to follow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use topic-specific language like 'portfolio', 'publicity', 'surveillance', and 'harassment'. However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'photoshooted', 'wherealse', 'teh', 'experiance', 'indistory', 'sutable', 'reachout', 'formost', 'continues', 'recapitualte', 'numerious'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision in word choice and the high frequency of spelling mistakes prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and articles (e.g., 'admire by them by following', 'photographers are inaccurate to follow', 'whene every director make a film they required lates portfolio'). Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are also problematic in several instances. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. The student attempts complex structures, but these often contain errors, which limits the score for grammatical accuracy.
