Student answer (Band 7.5)

It is often argued that famous people are being captured by professional photographers wherever they go. Some people consider this as a good thing, due to their numerous fan followers who are passionately interested in their daily and social lives. While others sees from a different perspective as they believe it is unethical and against their privacy to follow them everywhere. It has both positive and negative trends and outcomes; whereas, I believe that photographers should not invade their privacy and maintain a healthy gap between their personal and professional career.

On the one hand, the primary objective is clear that people are desperate to know every single movement of these famous celebrities including their morning routine and their make-up tutorials. Digital media covers each and every minor detail to entertain the audience as they are interested and follow their lives. Moreover, news and photographers have collaborated to share the pictures of famous actors, athletes, musicians and directors which are often taken on the sets of their movie premier or in a studio during their live-song recording. Furthermore, these pictures are advertised on their platforms to gain the publicity from the viewers by earning in huge figures.

On the other hand, it has severely adverse effects of photographing every single detail of these famous individuals. Recent studies have shown that many actors and co-actors have criticized media publicly about the invasion in their personal matters which tends to disrupts their mental health and wellbeing and are victims of anxiety and depression. One picture can either make an individual famous or it can destroy its entire career by spreading rumours and false narrations.

In my opinion, professional photographers should definitely create a thin line between their professional and personal careers. Portraying one's image can either make them look confident or can ruin their reputation. Therefore, celebrities have all equal rights to stop filming them whenever they feel a breach of their privacy.

In conclusion, although famous people love getting fame and attention from the public they should be more concerned about the severe consequences as well. Hence, by not entangling their both careers into one subject would surely have many positive outcomes by not interfering into their personal lives just for the sake of public interest or public demand.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have addressed all parts of the prompt by discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the public's desire for entertainment versus the negative impact on celebrities' mental health. However, some points could be developed further; for instance, the discussion on the 'positive' side focuses heavily on the mechanics of media rather than the deeper societal reasons why the public finds this acceptable. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore' to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the use of 'whereas' in the introduction is grammatically awkward in that context. Nevertheless, the progression of ideas is clear, and the central topic of each paragraph is well-maintained throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'invasion in their personal matters', 'adverse effects', and 'breach of their privacy' are used effectively. There are occasional minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'fan followers' (which is redundant) and 'entangling their both careers' (which is slightly unnatural). However, these errors do not impede communication. You attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, which shows a good awareness of the topic's requirements, though you could benefit from more varied collocations to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over basic grammar, and your meaning is always clear. However, there are some persistent errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('others sees' instead of 'others see') and minor prepositional issues ('invasion in' instead of 'invasion of'). While you attempt complex sentences, some are slightly clunky, such as 'by not entangling their both careers into one subject would surely have many positive outcomes'. Despite these errors, the grammar is generally accurate enough that it does not cause difficulty for the reader.
