Student answer (Band 8.0)
In these days, Famous persons are constantly photographed by professional photographers everywhere they go. While few number of people say that this is a good thing, others argue that photographers are wrong to follow famous people. In this essay, we will discuss both views before presenting my own view.
On the one hand, many people support photographers taking pictures of famous individuals because celebrities choose careers that place them in the public eye. Actors, musicians, and athletes often earn large incomes through public support, and their fans are naturally curious about their lives. Photographs published in newspapers, magazines, and online platforms help satisfy this curiosity. Furthermore, media coverage can promote celebrities’ work, such as new films, music albums, or sporting events, which benefits both the celebrities and the entertainment industry.
On the other hand, critics argue that famous people deserve privacy just like everyone else. Constantly being followed by photographers can create stress and negatively affect their personal lives. Celebrities may feel uncomfortable when private moments with family and friends are captured without permission. In some cases, aggressive photographers have caused dangerous situations by chasing celebrities in public places. Therefore, many people believe there should be limits on how and where photographers can take pictures of public figures.
In conclusion, some people believe photographing celebrities is justified because of public interest, whereas others consider it a violation of privacy. I believe photographers should be allowed to cover public events but should not interfere with the private lives of famous individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt. You have discussed both perspectives—the public interest in celebrities and the right to privacy—and provided a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant and logically extended, such as the mention of media promotion for celebrities' work and the potential for dangerous situations caused by aggressive photographers. To reach a higher band, you could further develop your own opinion in the body paragraphs rather than leaving it primarily for the conclusion, ensuring that your stance is clearly integrated throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.5
The essay is well-organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is logical. You use cohesive devices effectively, such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader through your arguments. The paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the overall clarity of the response. The flow is smooth, and the relationship between ideas is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a high band score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with precision. Phrases like 'public eye', 'naturally curious', and 'violation of privacy' are used accurately. While the vocabulary is generally appropriate and natural, it is somewhat functional. To achieve a higher score, you could incorporate more sophisticated or less common lexical items, such as 'intrusive', 'scrutiny', or 'sensationalism', to add more nuance to your arguments. There are no significant spelling or word-choice errors that impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The essay displays a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You use subordinating conjunctions effectively, such as in the sentence 'While few number of people say that this is a good thing, others argue that photographers are wrong to follow famous people.' There are minor grammatical slips, such as 'In these days' (should be 'Nowadays') and 'few number of people' (should be 'a small number of people'). However, these errors are infrequent and do not impede the reader's understanding. The majority of your sentences are error-free, showing good control over grammar and punctuation.
