Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays Celebrity photography has become a popular subject for all the professional photographers. Some people say this is a good thing as they are interested in the personal lives of their favourite celebrities. However, some people think this is wrong as even though they are celebrities they have a personal life. In this essay I will provide you the views on both perspectives and as well my opinion on what I believe.
Photographers shouldn’t click the pictures of big peoples families or closed ones as it can be harmful to them in different as the information can be misused. For example a global business man’s girlfriend was shot dead in Europe by rivalries after his personal pictures came out from a holiday trip. Exposing one’s life especially a famous person like a politician can impact their career and social reputation. A real life example for this is a story of Minister from Bhutan committing suicide after people started pointing at him for his personal life who was once praised and worshipped.
Humans have a curiosity to know whatever is happening in other lives especially with the famous people. This is a psychological trigger. However, there should be a limit for capturing someone’s personal life as this could lead to something dangerous. Princesses Diana story tells us how ones life can be effected in a blink of eye as the photographers were chasing and clicking pictures of her with secret boyfriend while driving a car which later led to a tragic accident.
In my opinion government should implement some rules for the photographers to not to capture people’s private lives which will impact their social status and can be harmful for their well being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the psychological curiosity of the public and the potential dangers of paparazzi culture. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The examples provided, such as the mention of a 'Minister from Bhutan' and the 'global business man', are specific but lack sufficient context to fully support the argument. The essay covers all parts of the prompt, but the depth of analysis could be improved by exploring the 'public interest' side more thoroughly, as it is currently overshadowed by the focus on the negative consequences of photography.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between sentences are occasionally abrupt, and the connection between the psychological aspect and the examples provided could be smoother. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the overall flow would benefit from a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to connect the ideas more fluidly throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'psychological trigger' and 'social reputation'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'big peoples families' instead of 'celebrities' families' or 'rivalries' used incorrectly to mean 'rivals'. Some collocations are also slightly unnatural, such as 'in a blink of eye'. While the meaning is always clear, the range is somewhat limited and lacks the precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('a story of Minister'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For instance, the sentence 'Photographers shouldn’t click the pictures of big peoples families or closed ones as it can be harmful to them in different as the information can be misused' is confusing and contains a missing word. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. More attention to sentence structure and proofreading for basic errors would improve the accuracy.
