Nowadays famous people are photographed by professional photographers everywhere they go. Some people say this is a good thing because the public are interested in their lives. Other people think that photographers are wrong to follow famous people.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Undoubtedly, professional photographers try to capture the photos of famous celebrities as much as they can without taking care of their privacy, whereas proponents of this trend accord that it is good thing because they admire them. I will discuss both perspectives in my upcoming paragraphs and believe that media and photographers have to respect their private moments.

On the on hand, opponents who consider that photos taken by media or photographers are wrong, give their arguments that, every person has a right to live their own life according to themselves whether they are ordinary or well-known personality. Celebrities have their family and children, hence, they love to spend some quality time with them without the interference of professional photographers. Secondly, they work really hard to maintain their identity in public. So they also need some time to rest alone without the presence of anyone to release stress and regain energy.

On the other hand, persons who believe that taking photos of famous people were nothing wrong, as they work for public. Also, they influence them, by endorsing advertisements, through the fashion sense, by spreading valuable knowledge. Consequently, individuals like to know everything about them, even all the time try to know the activities they do because they like them and imitate them. For instance, famous film star Priyanka Chopra inspire numerous ladies by her hardworking, perseverance and making her place in Hollywood industry inspite of Indian celebrity.

I think that, photographers have no right to invade the personal time of anyone regardless of their popularity. Photographers have to respect their privacy and if they wants to cover them , they have to ask for famous people’s permission.

To conclude, although public get influenced from their famous figure, still photographs have no authority to disturb them while spending time alone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the right to privacy versus the public's interest in celebrities. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the public's interest could be further extended with more nuanced reasoning beyond just 'imitation'. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments could benefit from more depth to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different perspectives. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Consequently' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some minor mechanical issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'accord that it is good thing' and the slightly awkward transition in the final paragraph. Despite these, the progression of ideas remains clear throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'privacy', 'proponents', 'interference', and 'perseverance'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'accord that it is good thing' (should be 'argue that it is a good thing') and 'photographs have no authority' (should be 'photographers'). These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the use of vocabulary from being considered 'flexible' or 'precise' at a higher level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the Hollywood industry'), subject-verb agreement ('if they wants to cover'), and preposition usage ('influenced from'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'inspite of Indian celebrity'. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your arguments. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining complex sentence constructions.
