Student answer (Band 7.0)

When the topic of media is discussed, there are divided viewpoints. Some individual support that the celebrities should be captured by media where ever they go as everyone wants to know about their daily activities; whereas, other counter claim that it is not a good thing to keep following famous personalities. Prior to my decision both the view points will be discussed in ensuing write-up.

Analysing the former view, the supporters argue that actors should be captured everywhere as people wants to know more about their life because of their huge fan following everyone like taking updates of their famous celebrities as they consider them as their role model. Moreover, celebrities inspires youth a lot in every possible way. For instance, what kind of clothes they are wearing, which bag do they carry, what kind of upcoming movies they are shooting for, things like that makes their fans really want to know more about them.

In contrast , the proponents of the latter view counter claim that it is very incorrect to pap celebrities everywhere and the reason behind that is they understand the fact that celebrities have a personal life too. They are famous personality that does not mean they should be captured everywhere without their consent. Additionally, media sometimes take photographs from an angle and then they post on social media which makes actresses really uncomfortable.

to sum up and offer my position , I strongly advocate with the latter view than the former view. Many may readily agree with the notion of capturing celebrities as they are huge fans; however , the aforementioned point convince that no one have right to take pictures without anyone consent as they have a private life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the public's interest in celebrity lifestyles versus the right to privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding the youth's interest in fashion could be expanded with more specific societal implications. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments could benefit from more sophisticated reasoning to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of analysis remains at a moderate level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Analysing the former view', 'In contrast', and 'to sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with punctuation and spacing (e.g., 'In contrast ,'). The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the connection between sentences could be more fluid to improve the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific language like 'celebrities', 'personalities', 'consent', and 'proponents'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is some repetition of words like 'captured' and 'everywhere'. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'pap celebrities' (which is informal) and 'counter claim'. To improve, the student should aim for a wider variety of synonyms and more precise academic vocabulary to convey their points with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some individual support', 'celebrities inspires', 'no one have right') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing or misplaced commas and capitalization errors (e.g., 'to sum up'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is recommended.
