Student answer (Band 7.0)

Social media has provided a great platform for transparency. In recent times, celebrities are often followed by paparazzis wherever they go. Getting clicked during the professional shoots and events are considered normal as it provides a medium for publicity. Apart from this, there are several people who consider these famous personalities as their role-models. However every coin has two sides. Inspite of all the advantages mentioned above the question still points out when it comes to the matter of their personal privacy. Let us examine both the points of views in a structured and detailed manner.

Firstly, considering the glamarous lives of people appearing on big screen, it can be said that the topic is quite fascinating for the common people. Although, it might look like a comfortable and abundant lifestyle they still deal with their own challenges and conflicts. When these people are followed endlessly by some individuals for photographs it can create an unnecessary pressure to perform continuosly and look good without any fail. For instance, take an example of an actress. Though, she looks flawless on screens, doesn't necessary means that she needs to be in perfect glowing state all the time. During her spare time she must be allowed to have imperfections and be herself wihout any burden.

Secondly, a large section of our society portray these famous individuals as an inspiration. It is important to keep setting an example for the society by these people who had overcome adversity of life and came out as a winnners. This creates undoubtedly a community which grows by getting motivated by these people. However, for this specific need to be met it is crucial to see every aspect of their lifestyle the food they consume, the places they visit and their vacations.

I would like to conclude by stating that inspite of having so many positive aspects of following the celebrities we must be thoughtful of their personal privacy. These people should be provided with complete dignity to get photographed only if they are comfortable. During the difficult times such as funerals, they need be left alone with their confidential life. Feelings and permission of celebrities needs be strictly addressed and considered every now and then.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the pressure on celebrities to look perfect and the role of celebrities as societal inspirations. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding celebrities as role models is a bit repetitive and could have been supported with more concrete examples beyond general statements. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis could be improved to reach a higher band by exploring the implications of paparazzi culture more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the introduction: 'the question still points out when it comes to the matter of their personal privacy.' Improving the variety and sophistication of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'adversity' and 'confidential'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'paparazzis' (the plural is 'paparazzi'), 'getting clicked' (informal), and 'in perfect glowing state'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the range and precision of the vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding informal phrasing common in spoken English.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Feelings and permission... needs be') and missing articles ('take an example of an actress'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some missing commas after introductory phrases. While the meaning remains clear throughout, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
