Student answer (Band 6.5)

Photography of renowned celebrities is considered a great way to show it to public, on the other hand some people say that no one has the right to interfere in anyone's life. This essay will discuss the reasons for both statements before concluding it with my perspective.

To commence with, famous figures become famous with the help of audience if these celebrities keep their personal lives private, it will affect their fan following. Prohibiting clicking pictures can also leads to reduce their fame across the globe. Moreover, stopping media to follow the renowned people shift the interest of audience towards those who are publicly available. In order to remain in the headlines, it is necessary to depict the personal life as well as providing information of daily life. Therefore, they should not stop photographers to capture their lives anywhere.

On the contrary, everyone has the right to live their own life either they are famous or not. People achieve success with their hard work and this is what makes them popular around the world, it does not matter what the profession is, showing everything regarding them is irrelevant and it prevent them to live a normal life. That is why public should take interest in their working life instead of personal.

In my opinion, every professional worker has the right to enjoy, however they like. Rather than capturing everything, photographers should take consent from them before making it public. Because, some famous figures only want to disclose their workplace life whether they are in sports, actors, or singers. They do not prefer to show their family or disclose where they are going and with whom. So, before clicking pictures, photographers should ask them, if they want it or not.

To conclude, there should be balanced approach which should be followed by professionals before capturing everything in camera. Consent should be necessary from famous figures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the relationship between media exposure and fame, and the ethical concerns regarding privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the argument that celebrities need media to maintain their fan base could be supported with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is consistent throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and nuance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'On the contrary', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where referencing could be smoother, such as the phrase 'show it to public' in the introduction, which lacks a clear antecedent. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the logical flow is maintained throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'renowned', 'prohibiting', and 'consent'. However, there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'show it to public' instead of 'show it to the public' and 'shift the interest of audience' instead of 'shift the audience's interest'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word choice and a wider range of idiomatic expressions to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'Prohibiting clicking pictures can also leads to reduce' should be 'can also lead to a reduction'). There are also punctuation issues, such as comma splices in the second paragraph. Despite these errors, the writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, though the control over these structures is inconsistent. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score.
