Dear Deep,

Hope you're doing well. I am glad to know that you are thinking to learn a new language.

I personally think that you should learn French as this is one of the most popular langugae these days in several countries. There are lots of benefits to learn new language.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks for a discussion on the ethics of photographing famous people, but the student has written a personal letter to a friend about learning a new language. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of any relevant ideas. Because the task was not addressed at all, the score is heavily penalised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response is structured as a personal letter rather than an essay. While there is some logical progression within the letter format (introduction, advice, conclusion), the lack of an essay structure makes it difficult to evaluate against the requirements of a Task 2 response. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'Since', but they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not support a formal argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, suitable for a simple personal letter but insufficient for an IELTS essay. There are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'langugae' instead of 'language' and 'subtiles' instead of 'subtitles'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is no attempt to use more sophisticated or academic language appropriate for the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is frequently inaccurate, which occasionally impedes communication. Examples include 'thinking to learn' (should be 'thinking of learning'), 'benefits to learn' (should be 'benefits of learning'), and 'move Canada' (should be 'move to Canada'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complex forms, such as 'Since started learning new language bit difficult'. These persistent errors indicate a lack of control over basic grammatical structures.
