Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this contemporary era, celebrities are often captured by professional paparazzies almost everywhere they visit. While some believes that this is a good trend as it allows public to get to know more about their personal lives, others argue that it negatively impact on the privacy of famous personalities. I strongly agree with the latter view, as it disturbs the privacy and personal life of popular persons.

On the one hand, capturing famous people on daily basis allows public to learn more about the routine and lifestyle of them as most people wants to develop similar practical skills similar to their role models. It enables them to get to know about their preferences and lifestyle such as, eating habits, fitness secret, beauty treatments and many more. Moreover, this can also motivate famous personalities to do even better. since they are getting recognition by others, it motivates them and elevate their confidence level to perform even better in future prospects.

On the other hand, there are several clear limitations of this shift. Firstly, it makes difficult for famous people to perform their fundamental daily routine as they often get chased by the photographers everywhere. For example, many social media channels posts the everyday clips of celebrities captured by paparazzies while they are going to the fitness club or even to the market for shopping. Such practices alleviate their chance to live independent life and disrupts their privacy.

In conclusion, despite being captured provides some benefits as it enables public to learn about their habits, it raise several issues regarding personal privacy of celebrities. Therefore, there should be some limitations against photographers so that famous people does not get chased everywhere they go and they can live their life independently.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the public's interest in role models versus the celebrities' right to privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'practical skills' gained from watching celebrities is not fully explored or convincing. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are supported with more depth and logical reasoning rather than just listing potential benefits or drawbacks.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For example, 'the routine and lifestyle of them' is awkward phrasing. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints discussed in the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'contemporary era', 'personalities', and 'fundamental daily routine'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'paparazzies' is the incorrect plural form (it should be 'paparazzi'), and 'alleviate their chance' is an incorrect collocation; 'diminish' or 'reduce' would be more appropriate. Additionally, 'future prospects' is used slightly out of context. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, more precise and natural word choices would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some believes', 'most people wants', 'it raise', 'famous people does not'). There are also minor errors with articles and pluralization, such as 'allows public' instead of 'allows the public'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that plural/singular nouns are used correctly throughout your writing.
