Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world popular people are usually followed and their pictures are captured by professional photographers at every place. Few proponents believe that it is a positive thing as public is keen to know about the lives of their favourite celebrities whereas, critics say it is not a good thing to follow them because they too have privacy. Both of these views will be explained in this essay followed by personal opinion.

One of the main reasons to click the photographs of famous people is to reveal their real life to people who really admire them. In detail, people are interested to see the luxury life of famous people, their fashion, and clothing brands being worn by celebrities. For example, famous movie stars always wear updated fashionable clothes and that becomes trend among youngsters. Moreover, it generates the income for several families because usually the photographers sale these photos to news editors, magazine companies and article writers. So, when these publications are brought to market, income generation takes place in an economy.

However, the privacy of popular people is compromised sometimes. For instance, family moments and a precious couple time either in a restaurant or maybe outside should not be spoil by anyone's interference. But, sometimes few crazy people ruin their special events. Few moments are captured by strangers that are misused to spread rumors. In real life there is something else, but due to change in camera angle it looks different and then, represented wrong to spread wrong information.

I think if anyone gets a chance to meet or see the famous people then one must ask their permission to have selfies or clicking the photos of other people. Anyone's privacy should not be harmed.

In conclusion, people want to know about the lifestyle of their favourite ones and they do not want to spread any rumors. In fact, one must not harm anyone's character in public.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the issue and providing a personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic benefits of photography and the ethical concerns regarding privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument about income generation is a bit superficial, and the conclusion is quite brief, failing to fully synthesize the points discussed. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your examples and ensure your personal opinion is more clearly integrated throughout the body paragraphs rather than just stated in a separate, short paragraph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, some transitions between sentences within paragraphs feel abrupt. For example, the shift from discussing fashion trends to income generation in the second paragraph could be smoother. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proponents', 'critics', 'compromised', and 'interference'. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'click the photographs' (should be 'take photographs') and 'precious couple time' (should be 'private time' or 'intimate moments'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more academic synonyms for common words to express your ideas with greater nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'public is keen' (should be 'the public is keen'), 'sale these photos' (should be 'sell'), and 'should not be spoil' (should be 'spoiled'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are some awkward phrasings that affect the naturalness of the text. You have attempted complex structures, but they are not always error-free. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and verb forms will help improve your accuracy and overall control of grammar.
