Student answer (Band 6.5)

It has become increasingly popular for professional photographers to follow famous people everywhere they go in recent years. Some people support this trend because the fans admire the lives of famous people, while others argue that photographers breach their privacy. This essay will discuss both views and present reasons why I believe they should do photography in moderation.

The main reason why some people support this view is that these people can be a role model for the public. Many star personality follow a strict schedule which includes regular exercise and healthy eating, which photographers capture and publish it in the magazine or newspaper. As a result, many people may feel inspired and try to follow their lifestyle which can lead to better lives. For example, many players such as Virat Kohli life inspired a lot of people toward fitness. All credits goes to those photographs who has published their daily routine.

However, this trend can significantly affect famous people personal lives. They also have a family which also get spotted with them in cameras. So, it can become hard for them to enjoy private moments with relatives and friends because of the professional photographers who follow them everywhere, especially in their home. For example, there are a few stories reported in which photographers has clicked and published their personal moments that were mentally disturbing for stars which lead to undesirable outcomes.

I believe that photography should be done in moderation. These stars are also humans, so they deserve to live their lives in a way they want. This trend lead to pressure to maintain a positive and prefect image in the public, as they are always followed. Consequently, they start living as a robot who cannot commit mistakes which may cause them stress and anxiety.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that nowadays famous people are photographed by professional photographers everywhere they go. I think that this phenomenon is good if it can be done in moderation. Photographers should know their boundaries and only click the photos when these stars are in public performing their talent instead of their private time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the role model argument and the impact on personal privacy. However, some points are slightly under-developed; for instance, the argument about stars living like robots could be supported with more specific detail or a clearer link to the 'moderation' solution. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points while reiterating the writer's stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The main reason', 'However', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'these people' in the second paragraph, which is slightly ambiguous. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'phenomenon' and 'undesirable outcomes'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'star personality' instead of 'celebrities' or 'stars', and 'do photography' instead of 'engage in photography'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the score to the 6.0-6.5 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Many star personality follow', 'photographs who has published', 'photographers has clicked'). There are also minor punctuation and article errors throughout. While the writer attempts complex sentences, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The grammar is sufficient to communicate the message but lacks the consistent accuracy required for a 7.0.
