Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many professional photographers take pictures of celebrities these days which some people think is a good thing as they are interested in their daily life while other argue that this is a wrong activity to do and i also think the same. I am going to explain both the views in the upcoming paragraphs.

The young generation of this time is more prone to social media and got influenced by the famous people says actors, sports person and politicians and try to adapt themselves in a way of their favorite celebrity. Therefore, the paparazzi follow the well known people to take pictures and post them on social websites as a part of their job to earn money. For example, paparazzi, as a part of their work, upload pictures and videos on Instagram and Facebook to get views and in return they got money by doing so as more views is equals to more money.

However, there are a number of people who believe that following celebrities everywhere they go, without their consent is a wrong action as no one wants to disclose their personal life to everyone that eventually can create a sense of fear to their life. For instance, by posting each activity of these famous people can be taken as a information by the gangster and by following this they may threat them for money.

I personally think that this is bad activity to perform because even if famous people impact the general public, they has the right to enclose their private life from them.

In conclusion, even if it is a source of income for the media to make videos of well known people, though this a wrong thing to do without asking the celebrities about taking their photos as this might give them threat of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'young generation' and social media is relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples of how this impacts society beyond just the photographers' income. The second view regarding privacy and safety is a strong point, but the example of 'gangsters' is slightly underdeveloped and speculative. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more nuanced reasoning and clearer links to the prompt's core themes of public interest versus individual rights.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition 'Therefore' is used, but the connection between the popularity of social media and the paparazzi's motivation could be smoother. Additionally, the concluding sentence is slightly disjointed, using 'though' in a way that does not effectively link the two clauses. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') is precise would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'consent' and 'disclose', which are used correctly. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'wrong activity to do' and 'taken as a information'. The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic phrases like 'famous people' and 'well known people' suggests a need for a broader range of synonyms (e.g., 'public figures', 'celebrities', 'high-profile individuals').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('they has the right', 'they got money'), incorrect article usage ('a information'), and awkward phrasing ('a wrong thing to do without asking the celebrities about taking their photos'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and prepositions in complex sentences.
