Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this modern era, well-known people are followed by professional photographers to take their photographs and capture their movements. It is often argued that it is the best way to introduce them to the public who are interested in their daily lives while others think that it is not a good idea to follow them everywhere. This essay will discuss both points of view before explaining why I firmly believe that it is a good thing to capture famous individuals' lives. Firstly, it is widely believed that photographers should not take photographs of people who are popular world-wide. This is because everyone has their personal lives and photographers do not have any right to capture and follow someone constantly. For example, I saw a reel on Instagram yesterday and the photographers are shooting videos of the famous Indian actress in that reel. She was hiding her face to not to be captured or to become a limelight. As a result, photographers are revealing their privacy and actions which further makes them uncomfortable. On the other hand, a significant number of people believe that it is a good thing to take photographs and videos of famous individuals. This is due to the fact that people want to stay connected with their lives. For instance, famous people always influence their society and nation in numerous ways. Moreover, many of us imitate their fashion of clothing, shoes and bags. They have a huge impact on everyone's life and people want to follow the professionalism and the styles they have. Consequently, photographers keep people up-to-date regarding the lives of popular individuals. Although photographers reveal the famous people's personal life by following them , I firmly believe that they always give us essential information about well-known class of the country. To conclude, photographers has their own passion and they are following the instructions provided by their managements and most of the people love to watch famous people captured by photographers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of privacy concerns versus the public's desire for updates and fashion inspiration. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'professionalism' of famous people is a bit vague and could have been expanded with more depth. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and introduces a new point about 'management instructions' that was not previously discussed. Overall, the position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis could be improved to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'Consequently', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, the phrase 'the famous Indian actress' lacks context, as the reader does not know who is being referred to. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion, though the final paragraph feels a bit rushed.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'limelight', 'privacy', and 'influence', which are appropriate. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'well-known class of the country' and 'reveal their privacy', which sounds slightly unnatural. The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'famous people' or 'photographs'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. For example, 'photographers has their own passion' (subject-verb agreement error), 'to not to be captured' (incorrect infinitive structure), and 'the photographers are shooting' (tense inconsistency when describing a past event). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as the spacing before the comma in 'following them ,'. The frequency of these errors does not impede communication, but they prevent the writing from being considered highly accurate.
