Student answer (Band 6.5)
Famous people being photographed by photographers everywhere they go is a very controversial matter as some people believe that it is an invasion of their privacy while some argue that it is a good thing as general public is interested in their lives.
On one hand, we have people who believe that capturing the lives of famous people is important as it teaches us how they live and spend their time. To some extent, I believe it is important to photograph famous people like political leaders and global icons who influence our day to day decisions. Photographing influential people especially political leaders can be beneficial as it can help us to reveal their true identity and can provide us with the evidence of “follow what you preach”. For example, recently a political leaders in a small town banned the sale and consumption of cigarettes but recently new images were surfaced where the political leaders was seen smoking cigarettes with his friends at a party which revealed his true identity to the general public.
While on the other hand, there are some people who argues that photographers are wrong to follow famous people which i agree to some extent as it leads to their invasion of privacy. Getting photographed anywhere they go can lead to stress and anxiety which can affect their mental and overall well being. Recently a news photographer was sentenced for 3 years as he was caught trespassing and violating privacy of a famous singer just because he wanted to capture their images. This proves that photographing not only affects famous people but can also have disastrous consequences for the photographer as well.
In conclusion, I believe that photographers should have a balance of following or not following people keeping in mind the consequences that arise because of their actions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the accountability of political leaders and the mental health impact on celebrities. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the argument regarding political accountability is specific and well-supported, but the discussion on privacy could be further extended to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the writer's stance. To improve, ensure that both sides of the argument are explored with equal depth and nuance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'While on the other hand', and 'For example' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother in places. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in the variety of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate and appropriate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'invasion of privacy', 'accountability', and 'disastrous consequences'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'new images were surfaced' (should be 'surfaced') and 'a political leaders' (plural/singular mismatch). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the more sophisticated, less common lexical items that would characterize a higher band score. Focusing on more precise collocations and varied vocabulary will help elevate the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some people argues', 'a political leaders') and article usage. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. The use of punctuation is generally correct, but the control over complex structures is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly with singular and plural nouns.
