Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt: it discusses both views regarding paparazzi and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the public's curiosity versus the right to privacy. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The example regarding the actor 'Surya' is a bit vague and lacks sufficient detail to fully support the argument. Additionally, the second body paragraph repeats some points already made in the first. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-developed idea rather than restating the same concepts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'for example' is used repeatedly, and there are instances where sentences are joined incorrectly, such as the comma splice in '...without their consent because, it will affect their personal life.' Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'consent' and 'candid', which is positive. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'taken photographs' instead of 'photographed' and 'making business deals' instead of 'conducting business'. Some phrasing is also repetitive, particularly the use of 'famous people' and 'photographers'. Expanding the range of synonyms would improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'photographers taking their pictures' instead of 'photographers take'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'photographers taken the pictures'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency would be highly beneficial.
