Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, professional photographers mainly focus on capturing famous people. They tend to follow and capture photos of singers, actors, athletes. Some people believe, that it helps people who are interested in their lives and want to succeed. Whereas, others argue that photographers should not follow stars, instead they should be given their own privacy. I personally believe, that paparazzi should capture famous people so that, an audience should be motivated in a better way.

To begin with, some people believe that paparazzi should capture moments with the celebrities. This is because, it provide a good amount of information about celebrities such as their hard-work and lifestyle. Thus, this information influences people in a way that they get motivated. Also, people try to adapt their lifestyle and copy their diet plan. Therefore, it helps an individual to work hard in his life to achieve their goals. Moreover, celebrities indirectly influence young generation in such as way that they try to manifest a goal in their life and work hard to achieve it.

On the other hand, others claim that, photographers should not follow stars. This is because, it is a matter of their privacy. It has been seen that, journalists sometimes leak their quality time photos without their consent. Therefore, being stars, they deserve to enjoy their quality time with the loved ones. Moreover, sometimes they encourage advertisements which is harmful to the health, and youth can try to follow their idols in a wrong way.

In conclusion, although stars motivate their fans during their interviews and podcasts. However, they should enjoy their own privacy. Therefore, photographers should not capture and leak their personal moments without their concern.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, including both viewpoints and a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the role of celebrities as role models versus the right to privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding celebrities influencing diet plans is a bit repetitive and lacks specific examples or deeper analysis. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and could have better synthesised the main points. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your arguments with more nuanced reasoning or concrete examples rather than repeating similar points about 'hard work'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some of the linking is slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph. Additionally, the use of punctuation, specifically the unnecessary commas after 'believe' and 'that', occasionally disrupts the natural flow of the text. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'paparazzi', 'consent', and 'manifest'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'leak their quality time photos' is not standard English; 'publish private photographs' would be more natural. Similarly, 'without their concern' is incorrect; the word you intended is 'consent'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include unnecessary commas (e.g., 'Some people believe, that...') and subject-verb agreement or article usage (e.g., 'influence young generation' should be 'influence the young generation'). There are also some awkward phrasings, such as 'in such as way that'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence punctuation and ensuring that articles and prepositions are used correctly. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
