Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that celebrities are photographed by professional photographers wherever they go these days because people are interested in them, while others think it is not appropriate to follow them. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I believe photographers should respect the privacy of famous people.
On the one hand, there are several reasons for taking pictures of well-known people. First of all, individuals prefer to follow their clothes, lifestyles and activities, which helps them to stay updated regarding the fashion. Secondly, photographs can also assist people to gain information related to different products. For example, celebrities doing advertisements of skin care products, motor vehicles, mobile phones and more. Unless photographers are taking photos at public events, they cannot satisfy the public's curiosity.
On the other hand, to maintain the privacy of famous individuals, it is essential not to follow them everywhere. Firstly, they also deserve personal space in their life, through which they not only spend their life comfortably but also stress-free. Apart from it, this approach provides them stability to strengthen their bonds with their family members and friends. For instance, if a famous person is spending time with their family, photographers should not disturb them. Moreover, their family members, especially, children, may not want to be in the public eye due to safety concerns.
In conclusion, although many people are interested in the personal lives of celebrities, I believe that photographers should respect them when they are enjoying their private lives and not taking their photographs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the issue and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed. For instance, the arguments regarding public interest in fashion and the need for privacy for celebrities' families are logical. However, the development could be more sophisticated; some points, such as the claim that photographers help people gain information about products, are slightly simplistic. Overall, the response maintains a clear position throughout and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear structure. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are used appropriately to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more varied. For example, the use of 'Apart from it' is a bit awkward in this context. Despite these minor issues, the paragraphing is skillful and contributes to the overall clarity of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is a sufficient range of topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'privacy', 'public eye', and 'safety concerns'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'doing advertisements' instead of 'appearing in advertisements' or 'provide them stability'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is generally good control over grammar, and errors are infrequent enough that they do not impede communication. For instance, the sentence 'Unless photographers are taking photos at public events, they cannot satisfy the public's curiosity' is well-constructed. However, there are minor errors, such as 'they also deserve personal space in their life, through which they not only spend their life comfortably but also stress-free', which is slightly clunky. Overall, the grammatical control is solid, though more variety in complex structures would be beneficial.
