IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Nowadays famous people are photographed by professional photographers everywhere they go. Some people say this is a good thing because the public are interested in their lives. Other people think that photographers are wrong to follow famous people.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are different opinions of people about professional photographers capturing the footsteps of famed individuals everywhere they go. Some believe that it helps the common public to get an idea about their daily lives because of their interest. Alternatively, other poeple holds the argument that this is not a good practice. I opine that famous celebrity should be given chance to enjoy their personal lives.
Everyone loves a famous celebrity, whenever the news of their personal lives comes out, it attracts the public. They adore the lives of famous individuals more than their own. This is possible only when the professional photographers follows the celebrity's daily schedule. Therefore, due to this reason, many believes that this is a good practice for photographers.
Critics on the opposite side believes that it is not a good thing to follow an individual's daily schedule, regardless of their popularity and record them on the camera for public. This ruins the interest of famed celebs in their own daily lives. For an instance, imagine you are a famous person and there are plenty of photographers capturing your daily chores and showing them publicly, this would make you lose interest in your life. Same goes for the celebrity, before being called famous, they are as simple as the comman people.
To put an end to this debate, I firmly opine that while it is necessary for obtaining the photos of famous celebs, it is also important that we should give them privacy to live their personal lives. Moreover, they can capture the photos during different types of events attented by the famous celebrities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that the public is interested in celebrities, the explanation remains superficial. Similarly, the argument against paparazzi could be strengthened with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the ethical implications. The position is consistent throughout, but the conclusion is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the 'why' behind the arguments rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Alternatively', 'Therefore', and 'Moreover' to link sentences. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To put an end to this debate'. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing; for instance, 'due to this reason' is a bit vague. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure helps the reader follow your argument, but more sophisticated linking words would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'famed', 'individuals', and 'practise'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'capturing the footsteps' (which is non-idiomatic) and 'ruins the interest of famed celebs'. You also repeat the word 'celebrity' and 'famous' frequently. To improve, try to use more precise synonyms and collocations. For example, instead of 'capturing the footsteps', you could use 'documenting the daily lives' or 'tracking the movements'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent subject-verb agreement errors, such as 'other poeple holds' (should be 'hold') and 'many believes' (should be 'believe'). There are also minor punctuation and spelling errors, such as 'comman' and 'attented'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct verb forms.
