Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, professional photographers tend to follow the famous people, no matter where they go. While some people believe this is a good way to get information about celebrities routines. However, other argues that it should be not allowed all the times. Both views will be discussed before I admit my opinion.

On the one hand, photographers are allowed to take celebrities pictures because they are public figures. Fans are very curious to know about their routines, fancy choices and relationships in real life. Photographers are satisfying their demands through photography. In addition, it can help the famous people to achieve good careers. First, photographers will take a picture of their routine and upload in the magazine or social media. It will increase the celebrities public image, interest and chances of getting more work. Hence, it can significantly help the famous people to uplift their careers.

On the other hand, it is unethical way. It can lead to invasion of privacy and safety. For instance, the celebrities are mostly surrounded by photographers, they irritate their families and spoil the personal time. They also have a basic human right such as personal space in their life. Additionally, sometime it increases stress, anxiety and unsuitable cosquences. For example, paparazzi caused accident due to reckless driving for clicking one picture. There should be some time limit for the photography.

In my opinion, people interest to know about the lifestyle of their favourite movie stars is not important compared to their privacy and safety. It can lead to breach of their privacy and lack of personal space.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the public's curiosity versus the invasion of privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument that photography helps careers is a bit simplistic and could be better supported with more nuanced reasoning. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesise the arguments presented in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure that each point is expanded with more depth and that the final opinion is more robustly connected to the preceding discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'For instance', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the opening sentence structure 'While some people believe... However, other argues...'. This creates a fragmented flow. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences flow naturally into one another will help achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'public figures', 'invasion of privacy', and 'unethical'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'photographers are satisfying their demands' (should be 'meeting their demands') and 'unsuitable cosquences' (should be 'unfortunate consequences'). The range is sufficient but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on learning collocations and refining word choices will help improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('other argues', 'celebrities are mostly surrounded... they irritate') and article usage ('take celebrities pictures'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors that occasionally interrupt the flow. To reach a higher band, you should focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also be beneficial.
