Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent times, the lives of celebrities are frequently captured by photographers, often regardless of where they go or what they are doing. Some people argue that it is justified because public have keen interest in famous individuals while, other claim that constantly following celebrities constitutes an unacceptable intrusion into their privacy. Although, Public curiosity is understandable, I believe that persistent photographic surveillance is generally unjustified when it occurs in private or personal settings.
Discussing the former opinion, the supporters claim that, celebrities, particularly actors, musicians and athletes, voluntarily place themselves in public eye and often benefit financially from their popularity. Consequently, there is considerable public interest in their lifestyles, relationships, and activities outside their professional work. Furthermore, photographers and media operates within a competitive industry in which exclusive images can generate substitute revenue.
On the contrary, the proponents of the later view claim that, constant surveillance can have serious consequences on celebrities and their families. Being photographed whenever they leave their homes can deprive individuals of basic privacy that ordinary people take for granted. This become particularly problematic when photographers deliberately persue celebrities, enter restricted areas and capture private moments. This behavior can cause considerable stress, and may also place celebrities, thier children and other family members at risk.
To sum up and offer my position, public facination with celebrities creates legitimate market for photographes, this does not justify unlimited intrusion in their personal life and therefore, professional photographers should be permitted to take photographes in appropriate cicumstances with permission.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and logically developed, such as the mention of financial incentives for photographers and the impact on celebrities' families. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, the arguments could be further extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the ethical implications. However, the current development is sufficient to meet the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'In recent times', 'Furthermore', 'On the contrary', and 'To sum up' are used effectively to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion. The referencing is clear, and the progression of ideas is logical throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally appropriate and sufficient for the task. The student uses topic-specific terms like 'photographic surveillance', 'exclusive images', and 'restricted areas'. There are some minor spelling errors (e.g., 'persue', 'facination', 'photographes', 'thier') and occasional word choice issues (e.g., 'substitute revenue' instead of 'substantial revenue'). Despite these minor inaccuracies, the range of vocabulary is adequate to convey the intended meaning clearly and with some precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('public have', 'in public eye'), incorrect punctuation (e.g., the comma after 'Although'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('media operates'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on article usage and proofreading for minor slips in punctuation and agreement. The control of complex structures is present but requires more accuracy.
