Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an argument these days that professional photographers are taking photos of well-known people wherever they go. Some people believe that it is a positive trend as individuals are taking more interest in their lives. While others argue that it is wrong to take photographs of famous people. I will discuss both of the phenomenon and give my view.

To begin with, Taking photographs is a hobby for everyone nowadays. more and more photographers prefer to take photos of the celebrities. some people think it is a positive trend as people just love to follow their favorite celebrities. Moreover, youngsters nowadays are spending most of their time in social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc. Therefore, it has become a trend to copy the well-known people. For example, people nowadays are highly influenced by the famous people and trying to look like them. They even try to copy the clothes, hairstyle, shoes, watches, and even way of talking. People are spending their time looking photos, videos or any news related to their favorite celebs. As a result, professional photographers are using this trend as an opportunity to develop their business.

On the other hand, many people believe that it is a negative trend as media is interfering with the celebrities and their personal lives. Furthermore, famous people are also have their personal life which they would love to enjoy. photographers and media sometimes stops them at public places such as airports and shopping malls, asking for interviews or taking pictures. Which could create issues and sometime celebs miss their flights or it even results in delays. However I think there are various important things like sports, environment, crime and various news that photographers and media could focus rather than just following the well-known people.

In conclusion, It is true that people nowadays are so influenced by the celebrities and media is using this opportunity by taking photographs and covering news of the people. However, I believe no one should be bothered, and there are several things that media could cover.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding the negative impact of photographers is supported by examples like missing flights, but the discussion on why the public is interested in celebrities remains a bit repetitive, focusing heavily on social media imitation. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to explore the underlying reasons for these phenomena more deeply, such as the psychological need for escapism or the ethical boundaries of privacy, rather than just listing examples of behavior.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the sentence 'Which could create issues', which is a sentence fragment. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'influenced', 'interfering', and 'opportunity'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'people' and 'trend'. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'looking photos' instead of 'looking at photos' and 'famous people are also have their personal life'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations related to the topic of media and privacy to show a more sophisticated control of language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'famous people are also have their personal life', 'photographers and media sometimes stops them', and the use of sentence fragments like 'Which could create issues'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated correctly will help you move to a higher band.
