Student answer (Band 6.5)
Lately, popular people are being photographed by professional photographers almost everywhere they go. While some think it's good because public is interested in their lives, others despise the idea of following them everywhere. I believe giving people their privacy is more important than feeding to the world's interest about them.
While some people argue that, since they are celebrities, they have a real fan base already. Millions of people are following them on social media and trying to buy their tickets. So it should be fine for them to be responsive to the photographers too and they should reciprocate the interest as well. Which means, if fans are showing interest in them, then the celebrities should also show interest in their fans' likings. Media such as newspapers, tweets and news, runs on such topics where "Actor XYZ was seen at California beach enjoying sunset with his family". They also believe that celebrities are okay being photographed everywhere because they are used to the limelight.
However, thinking from their perspective, it seems unfair. Everyone wants some time off their work to spend it with their loved ones or simply to enjoy it in solitude. It's becoming difficult for famous people to do so nowadays because of the rise of social media, people and even professional photographers capturing their moments every now and then. Many such celebrities nowadays put on a face mask or shades while going in public to avoid the limelight. This ruins their everyday experience of living a normal life.
To conclude, while it's true that public is interested in famous people's life, we should not forget that they have a life outside their profession too. We should give them a safe space and let them enjoy their time whenever they are seen in public.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the issue and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the argument regarding fan engagement versus the need for personal privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument about fans reciprocating interest is a bit underdeveloped and could have been expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is consistent throughout, but the essay would benefit from more depth in the supporting arguments to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'While', 'However', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of social media and the specific example of 'Actor XYZ' feels a bit abrupt. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is clear enough to follow without difficulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'limelight' and 'solitude', which are used correctly. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is some repetition of basic terms like 'famous people' and 'interested'. To improve, the student should aim for more varied synonyms and more sophisticated phrasing to convey nuance. There are no significant errors in word choice that impede communication, but the lexical range is not yet broad enough for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'feeding to the world's interest' (should be 'feeding the world's interest') and 'public is interested' (should be 'the public is interested'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage errors throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The student demonstrates a good grasp of basic grammar, but more consistent control over complex structures and articles is needed to achieve a higher band.
