Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, though the development is quite limited. The ideas regarding fashion awareness and the negative impact of consumerism are relevant but lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. The introduction is somewhat confusing, as it fails to clearly state the two sides of the debate, and the conclusion does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and more detailed supporting evidence to fully develop your points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. While some cohesive devices like 'On the contrary' and 'To recapitulate' are used, they are often placed in contexts where they do not fit naturally. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several inaccuracies, such as 'Photoholic' and 'eminent people' used in an incorrect context. There is also frequent repetition of basic words like 'days', 'people', and 'things'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the misuse of collocations prevent the essay from achieving a higher score. You should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to media and celebrity culture and practice using these words in correct sentence structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede readability. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('can became'), subject-verb agreement ('everyone using internet'), and punctuation errors, such as missing articles and incorrect comma placement. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for common errors like missing 'to be' verbs will also help improve your accuracy.
