Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, celebrities are photographed by professional photographers wherever they go. Some people believe that this is a good thing because the public are interested their personal lives, while others argued that photographers should not follow them every time and everywhere instead of their professional work places. This essay will discuss both views and explain my opinion.

One reason why people believe this practice is that they are interested in their personal and professional lives because it satisfy their interests and provide them entertainment. For example, some People want to know what they are doing at public place and they are also would like to know about famous singers, artists or actors lives. Therefore, taking photography of celebrities at public areas can provide people entertainment and make them more relaxexed.

However, some people argued that photographers should provide them privacy, especially if they are not in the work areas. this is because famous people can feel uncomfortable at public place especially when they are enjoying with their families. For instance, taking pictures of them while they are spending time with their families make them more uncomfortable. Therefore, celebrities should be provided their personal space and people should let them enjoy their private lives.

In my opinion, taking photography can be enjoyable and entertaining for some individuals. However, people should not disturb their private lives. everyone deserves their personal space. Therefore, photographers should take photographs of them at their work place and should not following them everywhere.

In conclusion, photography of famous people can satisfy people interest and provide entertainment. Nevertheless, celebrities like famous actors, artists, and singers should be provided their personal space and private lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the public's interest in celebrities versus the need for privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding entertainment is mentioned in both the second paragraph and the conclusion without adding new insights. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the implications of these two opposing viewpoints.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'However', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. While the progression is generally clear, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing, such as the unclear use of 'they' in the second paragraph, which makes it slightly difficult to distinguish between the public and the celebrities. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'privacy', 'personal space', and 'professional work places'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward word choices, such as 'taking photography' (should be 'taking photographs' or 'photography') and 'make them more relaxexed' (spelling error). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to avoid repeating simple words like 'people' and 'lives'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'it satisfy their interests', 'some people argued'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'they are also would like to know'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors with capitalization and sentence boundaries. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without missing auxiliary verbs.
