Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is significantly hampered by a lack of clarity and logical progression. For instance, the argument regarding people taking loans to become popular is confusing and does not directly address the prompt's focus on the ethics of paparazzi photography. The ideas are often under-developed or tangential, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's reasoning. While the task is addressed, the lack of coherent support for the arguments results in a weak response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the contrary' and 'To conclude', but they are often applied incorrectly or in a way that does not link ideas logically. The final sentences are fragmented and disconnected from the rest of the text, which disrupts the flow. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the progression of ideas is disjointed, making the overall argument difficult to track.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'clicked photographers' instead of 'photographers taking pictures' and 'return back loan'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. While the meaning is generally discernible, the lack of precision and the misuse of terms significantly impact the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with verb tenses ('when they are went'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are poorly formed, such as 'people who wants in their lives' and 'it is a not good for other famous person'. The range of structures is very limited, and the frequent errors in basic grammar and punctuation make the text difficult to read fluently.
