Student answer (Band 5.5)
It has been an ongoing debate regarding whether photographers should follow celebrities everywhere to take pictures of their personal moments, and update their traces to public. While some people believe that this practice is unacceptable because it violates celebrities' privacy, others argue that public figures should expect a certain degree of media attention. I personally reckon that professionals photographers should not follow famous people. Let us discuss the both views followed by my opinon in the subsequent paragraphs.
To begin with, this section aims to uncover the reasons that underpins why local public wants media outlets to take pictures of famous people's lifestyle. First and foremost, professtional photographers make alot of money by publishing personal moments of famous people. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response is incomplete as it cuts off mid-sentence, failing to address the second viewpoint and the conclusion. Because the essay is under the 250-word minimum and lacks a full discussion of both sides, the task achievement is significantly compromised. While you established a clear position in the introduction, the failure to complete the essay prevents a full development of ideas. To improve, ensure you manage your time effectively to complete all sections of the prompt, including a balanced discussion and a clear, summarized conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'On the contrary' to signal structure. However, the abrupt ending disrupts the logical flow of the argument. Paragraphing is attempted, but the incomplete nature of the text makes it difficult to assess the overall progression of ideas. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that transitions between ideas are smooth and logical, leading to a coherent conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'ongoing debate', 'violates', and 'obsession'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'professtional', 'favouraite', 'intrest') and minor collocation issues (e.g., 'update their traces to public'). To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and using more precise collocations. Expanding your range to include more academic or topic-specific vocabulary would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('media outlets takes advantages') and missing articles ('to public'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete sentence at the end is a significant error. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and article usage, and ensure that all sentences are complete and punctuated correctly.
