Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The example regarding the singer Sidhu Moose Wala is somewhat tangential and not clearly linked to the broader debate about privacy versus public interest. The arguments in the second body paragraph are repetitive and lack depth, as the explanation of why photographers are 'wrong' is not fully articulated. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed reasoning and clearer examples that directly support your main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the structure is mechanical and lacks sophistication. The use of 'bodyparagraph-1' and 'bodyparagraph-2' as headings is inappropriate for an essay format. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'on the other hand' and 'first and foremost', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a repetitive manner. The progression of ideas is occasionally difficult to follow due to awkward phrasing and a lack of smooth transitions between sentences. Improving the use of linking words and removing informal structural labels would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several spelling errors, such as 'photgraphed', 'carrier' (instead of career), 'curiousty', and 'interst'. Some word choices are awkward, such as 'clicked unsual with of their private life'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in word formation and collocation prevent the essay from achieving a higher score. You should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to media, privacy, and celebrity culture, and pay closer attention to spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the public have curiousty'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'It results, by that pictures or news they lost their relationships'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors present often cause the reader to pause to decipher the intended meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, punctuation, and the correct use of verb tenses before attempting more complex structures.
