Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 140 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views, the arguments are superficial and lack the necessary depth or supporting examples required for a higher band. The position is mentioned but not sustained throughout the response. Because the essay is severely under-length and lacks a conclusion, it does not fully address all parts of the task, resulting in a low score for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic paragraphing and some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, the progression of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the text. The connection between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the lack of a concluding paragraph means the essay does not have a clear overall structure. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow of information is interrupted by the abrupt ending of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'famous people' and 'professional photographers' are used repeatedly without variation. There are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'disscus', 'vies', 'Amous', and 'livings'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands, and the errors occasionally make the text feel simplistic or slightly confusing to the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies primarily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('due public are interested'), incorrect verb forms ('people loves'), and awkward phrasing ('is wrong thing'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of complex structures and the high frequency of basic grammatical errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is weak.
