Student answer (Band 6.5)

Photographers follows celebrities wherever they go to capture their photos. Since their fans are interested in their life, many people believe that it is a good thing. However, other argue that it is wrong to follow them as they have rights to enjoy their personal space. I completely agree with the latter view as many famous people might not want to share insights of their private life.

Photographers follows famous people to capture their each and every moments and put it on the internet for their fans. Fans are interested to know what their favourite celebrities are doing, whom they are meeting and what kind of clothes they are wearing. In addition to this, it also gives publicity to celebrities. When social media accounts and agencies put these photos on their pages it helps to increase celebrities's fan following. Because of these reasons many people do not find any issue in popular people being followed and their photos being captured.

On the other hand, it affects their private life as many celebrities want to keep their public and personal life separated. When photographers published their each and every details online, it creates discussions on their personal matters. Moreover, this also creates huge security risk. When people follows famous people everywhere and publish their locations or routine, it becomes easy to target these people.

In conclusion, although some people might not find any issue in public figures being followed, it creates huge risk for their safety and well being. Also, it invades their personal space. I agree that, photographers should not follow them everywhere so that they can enjoy their private life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of fan interest and publicity versus security risks and the invasion of privacy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the argument regarding security risks could be further supported with a specific example or a more detailed explanation of how this impacts the celebrity. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition to this', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the use of pronouns could be more varied to improve the flow. Overall, the structure is effective and supports the development of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'public figures', 'personal space', and 'publicity'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'capture their each and every moments' and 'celebrities's fan following'. To improve, the student should focus on more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. The errors in word choice do not impede communication, but they do prevent the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Photographers follows', 'other argue', 'people follows') and pluralization (e.g., 'rights to enjoy their personal space' should be 'the right'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the recurring subject-verb agreement errors are a significant distraction. To improve, the student should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical consistency, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects.
