Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length at only 84 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The introduction attempts to set up the discussion, but the essay stops abruptly before any substantive arguments or the writer's opinion can be developed. Because the response is incomplete and lacks the required depth and length, it cannot be awarded a higher band. To improve, you must ensure you fully develop both sides of the argument and provide a clear, supported personal opinion, while meeting the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While there is an attempt at an introduction, the essay fails to move into the body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'On the one hand' are used, but they are not supported by subsequent content. The structure is fragmented, and the lack of development makes it impossible to assess the overall coherence of the argument. Future efforts should focus on creating distinct paragraphs for each viewpoint and using linking words to connect ideas smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is basic and contains several errors in word choice and formation, such as 'fallowing' instead of 'following' and 'showing their self' instead of 'showing themselves'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and the errors occasionally impede the clarity of the message. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to media, privacy, and celebrity culture, and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('an entertainment reporters are fallowing') and incorrect sentence structure ('Everyone wants to become a famous like celebrities'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. The errors are frequent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of articles, pluralization, and correct verb forms, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
