Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length, containing only 104 words against the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the introduction attempts to outline the two viewpoints, the essay is abandoned mid-sentence ('In contrast, they have downsides, t'). Because the response is incomplete and fails to develop the arguments or provide a clear, supported opinion, it does not meet the criteria for a higher band. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words and fully explore both sides of the argument before concluding with your own perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization by using phrases like 'On one hand' and 'In contrast'. However, because the text is incomplete and cuts off abruptly, there is no overall progression or conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, but the lack of development makes it difficult to assess the flow of ideas effectively. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts within each paragraph and using a wider variety of cohesive devices to link your sentences and paragraphs more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is functional but limited. Phrases like 'pictures of celebrities are clicked' and 'following their footsteps' are understandable but lack the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'privacy,' 'public interest,' 'media scrutiny,' or 'ethical implications,' rather than relying on simple, repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors, such as 'everyday' (should be 'every day' as an adverbial phrase) and 'while they are those who are against this' (which is awkward and ungrammatical). The sentence structure is generally simple, and the unfinished nature of the essay prevents a full assessment of your ability to use complex structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Ensure you proofread your work to correct basic errors and aim to use a mix of simple and complex sentences.
