Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate regarding famous people who are chased by professional photographers everywhere they go for the photographs. Many people support this idea as they think common people like to stay informed about the celebrity lives while others argue that photographers must maintain some distance to give space to these people. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I believe it is wrong to follow anyone who is of public interest.
On the one hand, people who are famous in anyway likes to stay in the limelight as it inceases their popularity and fan following. They delibrately informs media and photographers wherever go to keep their self in the centre of attention. For example, many artists hire personal photographers for an event just to keep spotlight on them. Moreover, pictures and media attention keep celebrities more popular as public is interested in their daily routine, lifestyle and even personal relationships. For example, drama artists, film-stars and influencers post pictures on social media to gain more followers and seek validation.
On the other hand, there are some potential negative aspects of this trend as it disturbs personal life and destroys peace. Many notable figures keep to stay low-key, and prefer to maintain their privacy, but photographers keep an eye on them to take their pictures whenever possible. For example, Paparazzi follow these people to get their candid photos even if someone is grieving at a funeral. A lot of pictures are also taken out of context to malign the reputation of important public figures.
In conclusion, while both the views hold merit, I believe taking pictures of famous people wherever they go is a negative trend that affects their personal life and mental peace. There should be a limit for people who follow them by respecting their privacy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and logically developed. For instance, the discussion on celebrities seeking publicity versus the intrusion into their private lives provides a balanced view. However, the development could be slightly more nuanced; for example, the argument about celebrities hiring photographers could be expanded to distinguish between professional PR and invasive paparazzi. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay, and the main ideas are well-supported with examples like social media usage and the funeral scenario, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as 'keep their self' and 'keep to stay low-key', which slightly disrupt the natural flow of the text. Despite these minor mechanical issues, the paragraphing is appropriate and the overall structure is coherent, justifying a Band 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally sufficient and appropriate for the task. The student uses some good collocations like 'ongoing debate', 'limelight', and 'malign the reputation'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'famous in anyway likes', 'delibrately informs', and 'keep their self'. These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more accurate verb-noun collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. The range is adequate for the task, but lacks the sophistication required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people... likes', 'public is interested') and word forms (e.g., 'delibrately informs'). Punctuation is generally correct, but some sentences are slightly clunky due to the aforementioned errors. The control of grammar is sufficient to communicate ideas clearly, but the frequency of errors prevents a higher score. The student should focus on proofreading for basic agreement and tense consistency to improve accuracy.
