Student answer (Band 6.0)

The trend of being followed by a bunch of photographers is not a new normal for celebrities. I believe that fans are fascinated with actors and are always excited to see them . Therefore, fans are keen on knowing what's going on in their lives with the help of professional photographer, whilst some are against it because of the breach of the famous people's privacy. I personally believe that it is beneficial for both celebrities and their lovers.

First of all, social media has played a significant role in helping media agencies to post celebrity photos boost their businesses. Hence, it has made public addicted to see such content that they cannot resist themselves from looking into star's lives. Moreover, when Hollywood stars walk on the red carpet, audience is always excited about what kind of dress they war, what kind of food the eat, etc. therefore, such paparazzi's are the one who help them find those exciting pictures and videos of their loved ones. For instance, recently Lionel Messi when visited India for the first time, people paid around $3000 to just click a photograph with him.

However, media photographers sometimes cross the limits, and don't respect celebs' personal boundaries. It becomes really hectic for the famous people that they can't even spend some quality time with their loved ones. Few year back, inappropriate photographs of a female celebrity were leaked on a website by a photographer which caused a her mental trauma for years.

I think that most of the famous people when published by professional photographers, they get fame and people admire it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the first body paragraph provides a relevant example regarding Lionel Messi, the second body paragraph relies on a general claim about a female celebrity without sufficient detail to fully support the argument. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarise the main points or restate the position in a sophisticated manner. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with specific examples or logical reasoning to reach a higher band level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'However' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as the use of 'therefore' in the middle of a sentence in the second paragraph. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between 'famous people' and 'when published' is grammatically awkward. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the flow of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'fascinated', 'breach', and 'mental trauma'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'not a new normal', 'public addicted to see', and 'paparazzi's are the one'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. Expanding the range of collocations and ensuring correct word forms would help in achieving a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'the public are interested' (subject-verb agreement), 'what kind of dress they war' (spelling/word choice), 'the eat' (missing subject), and 'caused a her mental trauma' (article/pronoun error). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage, and aim for more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
