Student answer (Band 5.0)

In modern society, celebrities are followed and photographed by paparazzi where they are seen. While some argue that following them is good because it benefits both of them, others believe celebrities deserve their personal space. In my opinion, although, following their life has benefit

First of all, when a famous individual is followed by photographers, there is a chance of getting more fame. Additionally, celebrities can promote their movies or music through the media easily which will benefit them financially. Also news channels attract more customers by portraying these celebrities in their channel, which in return increases income. Furthermore,

On the other hand, celebrities should be given some personal space not taking pictures about their personal life rather than only capturing when they visit a program or show. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both sides of the argument, the discussion is underdeveloped. For instance, the point about 'financial solvency' is mentioned but not explained in depth. Furthermore, your own opinion is not clearly stated or maintained throughout the essay; you mention it in the introduction but do not provide a cohesive argument to support it in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure you fully expand on each point with relevant examples and reach the required length to allow for a comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often interrupted by incomplete sentences and abrupt transitions. For example, the second paragraph ends with 'Furthermore,' followed by nothing, and the third paragraph starts with a sentence fragment: 'Which will motivate them...'. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the misuse of 'although' in the introduction. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked using appropriate transition words that connect full, grammatically correct sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good thing', 'bad impact', and 'fake influence'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'financial solvency' (which is used incorrectly in this context) and 'portraying these celebrities in their channel'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to media, privacy, and public interest, and focus on using words in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. You struggle with sentence structure, often producing fragments or run-on sentences, such as 'Which will motivate them to give quality content as they will not be exhausted from paparazzi's behaviour.' There are also errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'celebrities life' instead of 'celebrities' lives' and 'in online real struggle are not shown'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
