Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, although the conclusion is incomplete. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of celebrities on youth and the potential risks to privacy and mental health. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the link between paparazzi photos and career success is a bit tenuous and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should ensure your conclusion is fully developed and that your arguments are more logically connected to the prompt. The abrupt ending significantly impacts the overall task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'However' to transition between ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between paparazzi photos and learning to be 'goal-oriented' is not well-explained. Additionally, the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, which disrupts the flow and coherence of the final paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, completed thought would enhance the score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renowned', 'prominent', 'unprecedently', and 'controversy'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'favorite's person' instead of 'favorite person' and 'record the popular people' instead of 'photograph celebrities'. Some spelling errors, like 'toady's' instead of 'today's', also occur. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning collocations and refining your spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('crime have been increasing', 'every renowned people are being'), incorrect verb forms ('if they being digitally captured'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound. Proofreading for small errors like missing articles or incorrect verb tenses would be highly beneficial.
