Nowadays famous people are photographed by professional photographers everywhere they go. Some people say this is a good thing because the public are interested in their lives. Other people think that photographers are wrong to follow famous people.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent times, the popularity of social media has made professional photographers to chase global icons in order to gather audience. This trend has become very popular especially in the field of sports and movies. It has both positive as well as negative impacts on the life of celebrities which have been discussed in the following paragraphs.
Firstly, this hinders the personal and private life of the celebs. Tracking them always prevents them from living their own life. Secondly, this practice is also responsible for spreading negative rumors related to the stars which sometimes cause widespread anger among their followers to gain public interest. Lastly, these media persons follow their families as well. As a result many celebrities prefer to live abroad as compared to India. For example, Virat Kohli the best Indian batsman has moved to London to live a peaceful life.
On the contrary, there is demand for such content as people wish to know what their idols do in their common life. This is one of the reason behind success of celebrity brands. But, it makes a person more responsible regarding his behavior and personality. Sachin Tendulkar is a perfect example as he denies to be part of any tobacco endorsements because he understands his responsibility towards his audience.
Therefore, in my opinion this culture is valid up to some extent only. No one has the right to interfere in someone's personal life. As a result, a proper set of regulations need to be formulated to protect the interest of our own global icons by the government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that paparazzi hinder private life and that celebrities have a responsibility to their audience, these points could be expanded with more depth. For instance, the discussion on the 'responsibility' of celebrities is a bit brief. The examples provided, such as Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar, are relevant and effectively support your arguments. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more detailed reasoning rather than listing several points in quick succession.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Lastly', and 'On the contrary' to guide the reader. However, the flow between some sentences feels a bit mechanical. The transition between the negative impacts and the positive aspects could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'this culture' in the conclusion, which could be more explicitly linked to the preceding discussion. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the progression of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'global icons', 'endorsements', and 'regulations'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'gather audience' (should be 'attract an audience') and 'common life' (should be 'private life' or 'personal life'). You also use 'denies to be' which is an incorrect collocation; 'refuses to be' or 'declines to be' would be more natural. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'made professional photographers to chase' (should be 'made professional photographers chase') and 'one of the reason' (should be 'one of the reasons'). The sentence 'As a result many celebrities prefer to live abroad as compared to India' is slightly awkward in its construction. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives will help improve your accuracy.
