Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days, professional photographers are getting used by well known individuals to capture them wherever they go. Few people believes that it is a good thing because public want to know about their lives. While the other ones think that this is wrong for the photographers to follow them.

The People in favour of this concept justifies this by saying that they are public figures and people around the world love them and are curious about their lives and want to know about their routine and their daily life. Mostly these people are some well known Actors, Film Stars, Singers or some celebrities that are already very famous among people and photographers usually capture them in order to increase their own publicity. When these celebrities upload those pictures on their social media accounts it leads to the publicity of the person who has captured them. For example, Film Stars are usually surrounded by people who want to capture them wherever they go.

By Contrast, the people against this concept think that photographers should not follow these famous individuals for publicity. Rather, they should make their own space by their work without capturing them. Because in this way they are hyping those people even more making their life a hot topic to discuss rather than increasing their own publicity and demand. For example, if a person capture a famous personality going somewhere and then upload the photographs on social media, people begin to hype them even more instead of appreciating the work of the person who has captured them.

In my opinion, both type of people are right according to their own perspectives. But I believe that photographers should not follow these famous people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the explanation of why photographers follow celebrities focuses heavily on 'publicity' for both the celebrity and the photographer, which limits the depth of the discussion. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments could be more nuanced by exploring the ethical implications of privacy versus the public's right to information. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs, though it does state a clear position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'By Contrast' and 'For example', but some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The People in favour of this concept justifies this'. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The progression of ideas is evident, but the lack of sophisticated linking words makes the overall structure feel a bit simplistic. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'well known', 'famous', and 'people'. Phrases such as 'getting used by' and 'make their own space' are slightly unnatural in this context. While the meaning is always clear, there is little attempt to use less common or idiomatic vocabulary that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control. Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary remains at a functional level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Few people believes', 'The People... justifies') and incorrect article usage ('the publicity of the person'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The use of complex sentences is attempted, but they often contain minor errors in structure or punctuation. A greater focus on proofreading for basic agreement and pluralization would improve the accuracy significantly.
