Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, photographing celebrities by professional photographers in every place is gaining popularity. Few people believe that it is acceptable because youth is interested in their lives; however, others argue that following them everywhere invades their privacy. This essay will discuss both points of view before explaining why I believe celebrities should be given a reasonable amount of privacy.
On the one hand, there are several reasons for taking photos of famous personalities. Firstly, most of the youth love to watch the videos, reels and posts of these personalities on social media platforms. Photographing these celebrities attracts a great deal of public attention; some people in the community are genuinely interested in their lifestyle, relationships and daily activities. Secondly, being photographed frequently helps them personally. Since, media coverage helps them to escalate their popularity and promotes their films, songs and their professional work. For instance, a celebrity photographed at a premiere helps them generate public interest in their recent films.
On the other hand, many people believe that they ought not be photographed everywhere. The main reason is that famous people are entitled to privacy. Constantly being captured on cameras make the feel uncomfortable, stressed and even unsafe. Especially when cameramen follow them even to their homes, restaurants and even to family gatherings. Moreover, some photographs are taken without permission and exhibit their private moments that celebrities do not want to share with the public. In my opinion, it is worse when children and families are involved.
Moving toward my point of view, I believe that although the public has a legitimate interest in popular celebrities, the photographers are not given the right to invade their privacy. Photographers should be allowed to take pictures at public events, but they should respect clear boundaries in private situations. A balance between public interest and personal privacy is therefore necessary.
In conclusion, some people consider celebrity photography acceptable because the public enjoys learning about famous people, while others believe that constantly following them is an invasion of privacy. In my view, celebrities can reasonably expect privacy when they are away from their professional activities, and photographers should respect these boundaries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, particularly the distinction between public events and private life. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, the student could provide more specific, real-world examples rather than general statements, such as referencing a specific incident or a particular type of media outlet to add depth to the arguments. Overall, the task is fully addressed with a logical flow of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. However, the transition between the third and fourth paragraphs is slightly abrupt. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in the variety of linking words could make the flow even more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'legitimate interest', 'escalate their popularity', and 'invade their privacy' are used appropriately. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'make the feel uncomfortable' (should be 'makes them feel'), but these do not impede communication. To improve, the student should aim for more sophisticated collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing, such as the frequent use of 'celebrities' and 'photographers'. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the flexibility of higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over basic grammar, but there are occasional errors that slightly affect the flow. For example, 'Since, media coverage helps them' contains an unnecessary comma and a sentence fragment. Additionally, 'Constantly being captured on cameras make the feel' has subject-verb agreement and pronoun errors. While these errors are noticeable, they do not cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the student should focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining the use of complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
