Student answer (Band 6.5)

Taking photographs of the well-renowned personalities have become the latest trend among the younger generation since they are getting influenced by their lifestyles. A substaintial number of people have a positive opinion regarding this ongoing phenomenon while some are opposed to this. This essay will examine both views in the following paragraphs with some relevant examples before explaining my perspective.

To begin with the people who support the idea of capturing every moments related to the eminent people’s lives. The most prominent is that these personalities are the role models for their followers. People are entitled to get familiar with their activities and the way of living which brings sense of belongingness. Apart from that, the satisfaction and enjoyment of getting inspired by these people who have an ability to affect others socially and emotionally is unbeatable. To illustrate, a person is more likely to immitate his favourite character’s behaviour and tactics which he usually interacts by watching the interviews and podcasts.

On the contraty side, people are not necessarily appreciating the fact that everyone has their personal life which should not be interpreted. The privacy ought to be respected and protected by not only the ordinary people but also the paparazzi who are working professionals in the industry. Capturing photographs could be a traumatic experience for the artists when they come across the events are constantly followed by the media which seem to be quite personal and emotionally sensitive.

To conclude, Since everyone seems interested in knowing what goes around in people’s life whom they follow, it is undeniablly inappropriate behaviour to invade someone’s privacy. I firmly believe that government should set limits on these activities and use them wisely.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'sense of belongingness' is a bit abstract and could have been better supported with a more concrete example. The conclusion is brief, and while it states a position, the suggestion for government intervention is introduced late and lacks sufficient explanation. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph contains a fully developed argument with a clear link back to the prompt's core tension between public interest and personal privacy.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Apart from that', and 'On the contrary side'. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as in the sentence 'which he usually interacts by watching', where the connection to the previous clause is unclear. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the flow of ideas is generally easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, using terms like 'well-renowned', 'phenomenon', and 'inappropriate behaviour'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'substaintial', 'immitate', and 'undeniablly', and a minor collocation error with 'interpreted' instead of 'intruded' or 'violated'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on refining your spelling and ensuring that words are used in their most natural context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'Taking photographs... have become' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'every moments' (pluralization error). Additionally, the sentence 'which he usually interacts by watching' is grammatically awkward. While you attempt complex structures, the frequency of these minor errors indicates a need for more careful proofreading. Increasing the number of error-free sentences will help improve your score in this criterion.
