Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views—the negative impacts of photographing celebrities and the potential positive role-modeling aspect—and hints at an overall opinion regarding the negative societal effects. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally shifts away from the core topic of celebrity privacy into broader societal issues like youth crime and family budgets. For example, the argument that seeing celebrity photographs in Mumbai leads to youth crime is underexveloped and tangential. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the ideas require greater clarity and tighter focus to achieve a higher band score, placing this response comfortably at Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which provides a basic structural framework. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence connections. For instance, the transition 'In the other words, if photograph depict...' fails to link ideas smoothly. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or inaccurate, such as 'The second reason behind this , it might increase crime', and referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is weak. These features align with a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation. Examples include 'every parts of the world', 'famous personality', 'distrub', and 'postive side cannot be overlookedo'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'phenomenon', 'ambition', and 'discipline', but inaccuracies in spelling and usage occur frequently (e.g., 'rountine', 'manners'). While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic meaning, the persistent errors and limited flexibility restrict the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. Frequent errors are present throughout the text, including missing articles ('in mumbai'), incorrect verb forms ('if they unable', 'can leads'), punctuation spacing issues, and run-on sentences like 'which might out of budget of many families. In this case youngster put pressure on their elders...' These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader at times and demonstrate limited accuracy in complex forms, reflecting the descriptors for Band 5.0.
