Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the recent world, celebrities are photographed by skilled camera personnel wherever they go. While some people are of the opinion that this is good because of the public interest in their lives, others think it is a wrong move by these photographers. This essay will discuss both views, and i completely agree this celebrities should be allowed their right to privacy.

On the one hand, public figures like artist, actors and politicians are always in the lime light and as such, people are very much interested to know their day to day activity as these influences their life chioces. The younger generation carrer and other life chioces has been greatly demonstrated to be influenced by the lifestyles portrayed by these celebrities on socials. For example, many young people across the globe have made carrer chioces to be musicians, actors and actresses, or even fashion designers because of the extravagant lifestyles portrayed on socials by the likes of world celebrities like Celine Deon, Davido, Veekee James, Tyleretc.

On the other hand, celebraties deserves the right to their private life. For example a popular musician was onced falsely accused of having a child with another close musician because of the pictures of her child presented online to the viewers.

these resulted to emotional distress and image damage to the artist. Another example is seen some years back when the intimate and adult contenet of a famous musician which was meant to be her private moment was all out in the media for viewers to see. With all these and more, measures should be put to ensure these individulas right to private life is not voilated while feeding the public with their lifestyles.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—the public's interest in celebrities versus the need for privacy—and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended and supported, such as how young people are influenced in their career choices by celebrities and the specific example of false accusations causing emotional distress. However, there is a minor mechanical error in the thesis statement where the writer refers to 'this celebrities' instead of 'these celebrities', but the position remains clear throughout. The support is relevant and well-developed, leaning comfortably into a Band 7 performance for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. It is divided into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs exploring the opposing views, and a succinct conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'For example' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, referencing is occasionally slightly faulty, such as starting a sentence with 'these resulted to' without a clear singular antecedent, which causes minor cohesion friction. Paragraphing is used appropriately, keeping the ideas distinct and ordered logically, matching the criteria for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 7, though occasional mechanical referencing errors place it firmly at Band 6.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'extravagant lifestyles', 'infringed', and 'emotional distress'. However, there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'chioces' instead of 'choices', 'carrer' instead of 'career', 'celebraties', 'onced', 'contenet', and 'individulas'. Furthermore, terms like 'camera personnel' are slightly unnatural compared to 'paparazzi'. While these errors do not impede communication, their frequency prevents the lexical score from reaching Band 7. The vocabulary is minimally sufficient and handles the topic adequately, earning a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. There are, however, frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('this celebrities should be allowed', 'celebraties deserves'), preposition errors ('influences their life chioces. The younger generation'), and awkward phrasing like 'celebrities captured in every moment is common today'. Punctuation is also occasionally neglected, such as missing spaces after full stops. Although the meaning is generally clear and communication is rarely impeded, the density of errors keeps the grammar score at Band 5.5.
