Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is commonly seen that famous people are photographed by professional photographers whenever they go outside. It is believed by certain individuals that it is a positive thing, as the public holds an interest in their lives. However, others argue that capturing photos of these public figures and following them everywhere is not a good approach. While many people support this, I largely agree with the latter view. On the one hand, following famous people and taking photos of them provides real-time information to their followers. It is often seen that celebrities always want to be in the limelight. If professional media houses send their photographers to take photographs, celebrities should cooperate with them. Apart from this, people love to see the lifestyle of celebrities and try to incorporate in their lives. One of the followers of a renowned film star said that because of the latest photographs, he kept himself updated about his favourite movie star. On the other hand, following everywhere can pose a serious threat to famous people. By taking their photos, they share every single detail with the public, such as their car number and their security type. Due to this, it might make them an easy target for criminals, as they can collect information about them without major efforts. For instance, last year, one of the famous Punjabi singers car stole from his home when he was on a foreign trip; later, criminals claimed that it was an easy target for them because his real-time photos and videos were shared by photographers on the internet. In conclusion, although people like to have recent photos and information about famous personalities, I strongly agree that it is a wrong approach because it can negatively impact their personal privacy and well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on professional photographers following famous people and providing a clear personal opinion. The writer presents a clear position throughout, stating in the introduction that they largely agree with the view that photographers are wrong to follow famous people, a stance reiterated in the conclusion. Ideas are extended and supported, such as when the writer explores the argument about public interest and the counter-argument regarding security risks, supported by an example of a Punjabi singer whose car was stolen. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise or remain slightly under-developed, placing the response firmly at Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay displays clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving smoothly from the introduction to the two body paragraphs and ending with a clear conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well to connect ideas, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and transitional phrases occasionally feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, contributing to an overall coherent arrangement that allows the reader to follow the writer's argument with ease.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task. Less common lexical items are attempted, such as 'limelight', 'renowned', 'security type', and 'personal privacy'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'car stole' instead of 'car was stolen' and 'following everywhere' missing an object, but these do not impede communication. Spelling and word formation are generally accurate, showing enough flexibility and precision to meet the criteria for a Band 6.5 or 7.0, supported by phrases like 'real-time information'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or concessive clauses such as 'While many people support this, I largely agree...' and 'although people like to have recent photos...'. There are some noticeable grammatical errors, notably the passive voice slip in 'one of the famous Punjabi singers car stole' and occasional awkward phrasing like 'following everywhere can pose a serious threat'. However, these errors do not impede communication, and the majority of simple sentences are accurate, reflecting standard Band 6 performance.
