Student answer (Band 5.5)

The famous people are always in spotlight for their personal lives more than there professional. This has incresed more due to increase in social media platforms. This is a benefit for celebs for their popularity and remain in spotlight. Some of them do it on purpose to allow photpgraphers and media follow them so that they can be viewed. This also benefits them to get more work in their industry as directors and producers watch their content, judge them, and screened them.

This has become a culture to get photographed by professional photographers which benefits celebs/famous people in long term career growth. As we know entering in such a industry is very difficult and then more difficult is to get work and remain constant for a longer period of time. Nowadays there are many reality shows going on which is making a bit easier for newbies to enter on big platforms and showcase their skills.

But despite getting work and becoming famous, celebs/famous people face judgements and backlashes from public only when their personal life crisis become a spotlight due to the photographers which follow them everywhere. Sometimes, this even affect their mental/medical condition. Even their families have to also go through bad conditions due to the media and photographers. This ruins their career and future in no time.

There are many famous people we have seen in real who faces the repuccation of being famous badly. Some of these examples are- Salman, who was accussed to killed a deer, he is getting death threats even now. Another was Rajpal, who was bankrupted and went to jail.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views (that the attention is good for career/popularity and that photographers are wrong to intrude) and attempts to give a personal opinion, though the stance is somewhat implicit. Ideas are relevant, suggesting that publicity helps actors secure work through social media and reality shows, but they are generally under-developed and lack extension. The conclusion attempts to provide real-world examples, such as 'Salman' and 'Rajpal', but these references are abrupt, underdeveloped, and fail to clearly support the main arguments about paparazzi intrusion. Consequently, the response aligns best with a Band 6, as it addresses the prompt adequately but suffers from under-developed supporting ideas and limited overall depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible progression of ideas across paragraphs. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct points, such as the benefits of being photographed in the first two paragraphs, followed by the negative consequences and examples. However, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases between sentences are occasionally abrupt, and referencing can be unclear, such as the sudden shift into specific real-life examples at the end without proper framing or introductory cohesive ties. Additionally, repetitive phrasing like 'famous people' and 'celebs/famous people' detracts from smooth progression. These issues place the response firmly at a Band 6 level for cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'popularity', 'social media platforms', 'career growth', and 'reputation'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'incresed' instead of increased, 'photpgraphers' instead of photographers, 'screened' instead of screened (meant screened/auditioned awkwardly), 'repuccation' instead of repercussions, and 'accussed to killed' instead of accused of killing. Furthermore, collocation issues such as 'remain constant' instead of remain consistent or stay relevant limit the score. The vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the meaning, but frequent lexical inaccuracies cap the score at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'As we know entering in such a industry is very difficult...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as article omissions ('in spotlight', 'in such a industry'), preposition errors ('entering in', 'accussed to killed'), and subject-verb agreement or tense issues ('faces the repuccation', 'bankrupted'). Punctuation is also occasionally strained. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently across the response and prevent the text from reaching a Band 6, making Band 5.0 a more accurate reflection of the current grammatical control.
