Student answer (Band 6.5)

Currently photographers earn a lot from publishing celebrity photos. Therefore, they follow well-known people and capture their moments. This will help some of the brands and destinations such as cafes, hotels to earn public interest. Also, celebrities can influence the people with their behavious. While some believe this is a good practice, I believe this is a bad thing because this will harm famous people's privacy and some of them need to follow strict diets to make a good impression.

Majority of well-known clothing and jewellery brands use famous people such as sportsmen, actors, singers to promote their products. Also some brand new cafes, resturants and hotels also use this strategy to attract more customers. Therefore, these photographs helps them gain the more consumers. For example, sports gear brands like Nike, Adidas use famous foot ballers and crickers to promote their products. Additionally, photographers are getting benefits from this act by earning more social media followers, projects and money. Moreover, famous people's behaviour can influence general public in a positive way.

On the other hand, this practice badly affects the celebrities day-to-day life as this harm their privacy. They can not even have a peaceful dinner with family without public's interferance. For instance, Harry Potter actor Daniel, wore same outfit to avoid photograpers while he was shooting his new movie. Further, they need to maintain good impression on their fans. Thus, they have follow diets and spend a lot on their clothing and makeup.

In conclusion, recently number of photographers follow celebrity stars to capture their daily life. Although this help photographers and brands to earn more and inlfuence public, this will affect the famous people's life in negative way. Hence, I believe it is wrong to follow famous people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on celebrity photography and providing a clear personal opinion. In the introduction, the writer outlines both perspectives and states their stance. The body paragraphs present relevant arguments, noting how businesses and photographers benefit from celebrity exposure, as well as the negative impacts on privacy and personal lives. While some ideas, such as the mention of strict diets and makeup, are slightly tangential to the main debate on privacy and public interest, the overall position is well-supported and clear throughout the response. The task requirements are effectively met with adequate development of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'Additionally', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, some cohesive links feel a bit mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally slightly loose (for instance, 'this act' or 'this practice' applied broadly). Despite these minor limitations, the structure guides the reader smoothly through the argument, earning a solid band score for cohesion and paragraphing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully using terms like 'professionals', 'celebrity photos', 'consumers', and 'privacy'. There are occasional attempts at less common vocabulary, though some word choices and collocations show minor inaccuracies, such as 'behavious' (behaviour), 'resturants' (restaurants), and 'foot ballers' (footballers). Spelling and word formation errors occasionally occur ('interferance', 'inlfuence'), but these do not impede communication. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the writer's ideas with reasonable precision, fitting the criteria for a band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or concessive clauses ('While some believe this is a good practice, I believe...', 'Although this help photographers...'). There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present throughout the text, such as missing articles ('wear same outfit'), subject-verb agreement issues ('this photographs helps', 'they have follow diets'), and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the overall flow of communication, positioning the grammar safely within the band 6 category.
